Digital masterclass: The power of psychological safety

From where will Amy Edmondson do her masterclass?
Professor Edmondson will come live from Harvard Business School in Boston, USA. She has a fully equipped teaching studio in her office.

What is the format of the masterclass?
The program has 3 blocks of around 50-60 minutes:

  1. The power of psychological safety
  2. The science of intelligent failure
  3. Creating a fearless organization

Each block will have the same structure:

  • Lecture by professor Edmondson (30 minutes)
  • Personal reflection exercise, lead by Ben Tiggelaar (5-10 minutes)
  • Q&A with Amy Edmondson (15-20 minutes)

At the end of the masterclass, there is an extra block of 30 minutes for reflections and Q&A.

Will there be breaks in the program?
Yes we will have 2 short breaks of around 10 minutes. Around 16.00 CET and 17.00 CET. But this timing may change: we will select the most natural and logical moment to do 2 short breaks.

How many people will attend this masterclass?
We expect that around 500 people will join this masterclass. Directors, leaders and HR professionals.

How do I preprare for the masterclass?
You do not need to do special preparations. No need to read books or do other pre-work. All you need to organize: your full focus and attention. So no meetings on the side, no inboxes open. When you are fully present, you will get maximum effect of this masterclass.

How do I interact in this program?
This masterclass will have 2 forms of interactions:

  1. After each block, you will be challenged to discover and write down your key takeaways and next actions from the lecture of Amy Edmondson. You can share these in our interaction tool Slido and Professor Edmonson can comment and advise.
  2. You also have the opportunity to submit questions to Professor Edmondson in Slido. And you can ask these questions in person and on video to her too.

We will NOT use breakout sessions, so we can spend all the time we have in this masterclass on interaction with and learning from Amy Edmondson.

The Slido app is integrated in our platform and easy to use. If you prefer, you can use Slido on a second screen (your smartphone) by going to www.slido.com and enter code: Edmondson.

What are the technical requirements?

  • The platform we are using, is built to use on laptops and desktops. We do NOT support use on tablets or smartphones.
  • You need a good internet connection (10MB+) and need to avoid using VPN-connections, because VPN-security settings may block certain features in our platform.
  • Use a modern browser, preferably Google Chrome.
  • Great thing about our platform: you can see us and we can see you. We have an XXL audience wall with all participants. So please swich on your camera to get in our studio.
  • For the audio, we advise you to use headphones.
  • If you have any problems, there is a technical support team available to answer all your questions.

What are the pre- and after- masterclass sessions?
Before and after the Amy Edmondson masterclass, we have sessions with Joriene Beks and Hans van derr Loo, authors of 2 books on Psychological Safety in Holland. They work with organizations and teams to increase the level of psychological safety in the workplace on a daily basis. And will share their latest insights with us. These sessions will be in the same platform as the Amy Edmondson masterclass. You did not sign up for them: they are extra value we want to offer you.

Will I be able to watch the session later (or: again)
YES. The video of the masterclass will remain available for 6 weeks after the session. Exclusively for participants.

Can I share my login with colleagues?
No. The login you receive is a personal login and can only be used for one individual access. You can logout and login again as often as you want, but a second simultaneous login is not possible.

Will I get handouts or extra materials?
You will get three types of bonus material:

  1. You can re-watch the masterclass for 6 weeks
  2. You will get a visual recap of the session by our drawer Monique van Rooyen
  3. You will get an executive summary with all the highlights
